How to Prepare Videos for Continuous YouTube Live Loop

The Importance of Video Alignment

Before you import any video playlist into your loop software, you must ensure that all files are prepared correctly. If your videos have different dimensions, frame rates, or audio rates, your stream will likely stutter or completely freeze during transitions.

Step-by-Step Re-Encoding Protocol

Use this simple FFmpeg command to prepare any raw video file before adding it to your 24/7 playlist folder:

ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -vf "scale=1920:1080,fps=30" -c:v libx264 -preset slow -crf 20 -g 60 -c:a aac -b:a 128k -ar 44100 output.mp4

Checking File Specifications

Always double check properties: right-click your MP4 file in Windows Explorer, select Properties, and click Details. Verify that the Width is 1920, Height is 1080, Frame rate is 30.00 frames/second, and Audio sampling rate is 44.100 kHz.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I loop videos with different resolutions?

No. Mixing resolutions (e.g. 720p and 1080p) in the same playlist will crash the FFmpeg concat engine or trigger pixelation on YouTube.

Why does the stream audio cut out during video transitions?

This happens when your video files use different audio sampling rates or layout configurations (mono vs stereo).
